English Language; Key to Global Access
ENGLISH
LANGUAGE; KEY TO GLOBAL ACCESS
Juliet Fortich
Language,
this is how people communicate. Without this we can never understand each
other. Language though may come in different ways. It may be by touch, by mere
actions, sound and most of all through the use of speech.
Everyone
may be able to communicate with each other using their own way. But nothing is
much clearer than speaking.
People all around the globe speak different
languages. Some speak British, some Italian, others speak Arabic, Korean,
Niponggo, Mandarin and some speak Chinese. But nothing can beat the
international language which is English. Who understands the languages I
mentioned aside from English? Do you?
English so far stands out from the rest. Go to
anywhere in the world and speak different language beside their own and see if
people understand. Speak English and you will be understood.
Is English Language difficult? Yes for some who
refuse to learn but very easy for many who are eager. Filipino people, young
and old must feel the need to learn the English language for sooner or later,
he shall conquer the world.
Global investors have made the best decision for
coming to the Philippines to have their contact centres and employ Filipinos.
Aside from the fact that we are hard working, we are great English speakers. Look
how many communication centres we have right here in the Philippines? Look at
those very tall buildings we have in major parts of Manila, Makati, Ortigas,
Pampanga, Cebu and Davao. Their businesses expand and that is because they have
high quality English communicators.
Have you ever encountered products with no
translation to the English Language especially if these products are exported
to other countries? If there are, well it will only be their nationality who
will patronize it, but others? I doubt it. Inventions; it will not succeed if
the world will not understand its processes? How about us here? Do we have the
idea of how important the English Language is? Try to talk to each other with
languages we can’t understand and see the effect. We may find ourselves
shouting at each other for confusions. One may even beat the latter for not
understanding what he meant.
Yesterday, when we speak English; it will only be
those learned who understood. Small children will find it difficult. Now speak
the language and you will be understood by even a month-old baby. This is how
English language influenced the generation of today. No wonder it is considered
as the universal language.
Now, a call is made to those who still refuse to
learn the English language, start learning and begin to understand it for
tomorrow you will not be heard if you don’t have the access to the world which
we call the most dominantly and universally spoken- English Language and by
then you can proudly say, I am a Filipino and I have the access to the entire
globe.
Very well-written.
